Schools have for many years been beating a path to the door of the Tutankhamun Exhibition. The innovative and unique reconstructions of Tutankhamun's tomb, treasures and mummy have proved to be a great teaching aid for teachers of all ages of children but especially those involved with Key Stage 2.
Ancient Egypt is strongly featured within the curriculum. At the Tutankhamun Exhibition pupils experience the moment of discovery in 1922, and see the magnificence of Tutankhamun's tomb and treasures with their own eyes. So accurate and perfect are the facsimiles of the king's treasures, that it has been possible to recreate the ante-chamber and the burial chamber, which held the sarcophagus, of the tomb exactly as it was when Howard Carter discovered it in 1922.
This unique factor has made the Tutankhamun Exhibition, in Dorchester, famous in its own right. It has been extensively featured on many national and international television programmes & documentaries, including a five part series by the BBC called "The Face of Tutankhamun". Other programmes featuring the Tutankhamun Exhibition have included "Discovering Tutankhamun", "Tutankhamun's Legacy" and "Dan Cruickshank's Egypt". The Exhibition also featured in BBC's highly successful school series "Landmarks".
