About Tutankhamun Exhibition

The Tutankhamun Exhibition is unique for its original and distinctive approach. The ante-chamber and burial chamber of Tutankhamun's tomb have been perfectly recreated along with the treasures and tomb furniture sealed in those chambers. This allows the visitor to enter the tomb just as Howard Carter did in 1922 and experience all the associated excitement and wonder.

Tutankhamun Picture Gallery Outside the ante-chamber Howard Carter and Lord Carnarvon are at the moment of discovery. Carnarvon asks Carter "Can you see anything?" "Yes," says Carter "Wonderful things". The antechamber itself is shown exactly as it was when it was discovered.

This magical moment in 1922 is recreated by dramatised audio presentation. Even the pleasant smells of the unguents and aromatic oils in the tomb have been specially recreated. The scene in the burial chamber re-creates the moment that Carter separates the outer gold coffin from the inner gold and enamel coffins.
