Frequently Asked Questions
- Was Tutankhamun murdered?
Until recently it was thought that Tutankhamun was murdered. X rays of Tutankhamun's skull by Professor Harrison of Liverpool University in the 60's appeared to show that Tutankhamun had suffered a blow to the head. Recent CT scans carried out on the mummy throws doubt on this and suggests that Tutankhamun may have suffered from a leg injury that may have gone septic and killed him. There is at present no forensic evidence that can show exactly how he died.
- Where can I see the Golden Mask of Tutankhamun?
The Golden Mask is in the Cairo Museum, Egypt. A perfect facsimile of the mask is in Tutankhamun Exhibition in Dorchester, UK. The Gold Mask cannot be seen in the Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaoh Exhibition in London.
- Are there two "Tutankhamun Exhibitions"?
Strictly speaking no. The original TUTANKHAMUN EXHIBITION, which has been seen on television throughout the world was launched in 1987 and is in its 21st year. It is currently on view in Dorchester, in the UK. The exhibition showing in London from November 2007 to August 2008 is "Tutankhamun and the Gold of the Pharaohs" and is not the same exhibition.
- Where can I see the Tutankhamun Exhibition?
The Tutankhamun Exhibition can be seen in Dorchester, UK. The address is The Tutankhamun Exhibition, High West Street, Dorchester, Dorset, DT1 1UW. For enquiries phone 01305 269741.
