Frequently Asked Questions

  • When was the Tomb of Tutankhamun discovered?
The tomb of Tutankhamun was discovered in November 1926 by the British archaeologist Howard Carter.
  • Was Tutankhamun married?
Yes he was married to his half sister Ankhesenamun.
  • Did Tutankhamun have any children?
No but it appears that his wife had two miscarriages as the mummified remains of two foetuses were discovered in his tomb.
  • How old was Tutankhamun when he died?
He died young. He was probably about 18 when he died.
  • Is the curse of Tutankhamun real?
There is no evidence that there was ever a curse connected with the tomb of Tutankhamun. It is a popular myth but like all myths it is a good story and good stories tend to survive. The evidence is that most of the people who worked in the tomb died naturally often living to old age.
